Our Strength, Our Joy, Ourselves: Celebrating Trans Month 2024 in Victoria

This November, Transgender Victoria invites you to join in a month-long celebration of our transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary (TGD) communities. Trans Month 2024 is here, and it's time to honour our strength, embrace our joy, and affirm ourselves in all our beautiful diversity.

Unapologetically Ourselves

Under the powerful theme "Our Strength, Our Joy, Ourselves," Trans Month 2024 is set to be a landmark event in Victoria's cultural calendar. This inaugural celebration is packed with trans-centric events and initiatives designed to showcase the resilience, wellbeing, and authenticity of TGD individuals.

Son Vivienne, CEO of Transgender Victoria, shares the vision behind this empowering celebration:

"Trans Month is about connecting our transgender, gender diverse and non-binary communities with one another and our allies, to celebrate our collective fortitude and fabulousness in the face of enormous challenges to our wellbeing. We're building a program with something for everyone which we'll grow in coming years. We're empowering grassroots programs and partners to join us in celebrating while also educating and building understanding among our allies."

A Month of Revelry and Remembrance

Trans Month kicks off with a bang at the Gender Revel Gala, to be held at Collingwood Town Hall on November 1st. This extravagant evening celebrates gender euphoria with cocktails, canapés, live performances, and the inaugural Trans Visibility Awards. It's a night to dress up, show up, and revel in the joy of being unapologetically ourselves.

Throughout the month, a variety of events will cater to all members of our TGD communities and their allies:

• Trans Parent Morning Tea (November 3rd): A intimate gathering for trans parents and parents of trans kids.
• Blak and Bowled (November 17th): Details coming soon!
• Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil (November 20th): A time for community solidarity and remembrance.
• Trans Pride Picnic (November 30th): Closing out the month with the ultimate community get-together.
• And many more!
