Transgender Victoria Launches Essential Guide for Coming Out at Work

At Transgender Victoria, we understand the importance of being true to yourself at work. That's why we're proud to introduce our new resource: "Coming Out At Work: A guide for transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people."

This comprehensive guide aims to support individuals navigating the often complex journey of coming out in professional settings. We recognise that each journey is unique, and our guide is simply designed as “a place to start”.

The 2023 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) survey revealed that individuals who are open about their gender identity at work report higher levels of safety, inclusion, mental wellbeing, and sense of belonging. However, 42.9% of those not open at work feared negative impacts on their career progression. Our guide aims to address these concerns and empower you to make informed decisions.

Inside "Coming Out At Work," you'll find:

Developed by the team at TGV, and beautifully designed by queer artist Jacq Moon, this guide draws on our community's collective wisdom and resilience. We've created a resource that balances professionalism with the warmth and understanding that comes from shared experiences.

Remember, there's no single "right" way to come out at work. Our guide is here to provide you with tools and insights, empowering you to make decisions that feel authentic and safe for you.
