Thanks for taking the time to view the Country Roads to Pride Gallery. We hope you liked the images and engaged with the stories. Can you spare a minute to tell us what you thought?
I grew up in regional NSW and moved to the city at 18. I lived in Sydney/Melbourne for seven years. It was daunting to move back to the country. As a kid, I fitted the mould of what people expected of me. In my early adult years, in cities, I came into myself, exploring my identity and forming queer friendships. When I moved to Wangaratta, I was worried about not being around other people who are LGBTQIA+ and retreating into myself. I searched for the safety of queer spaces. After much difficulty, including being dismissed by local council, I eventually found the budding LINE (LGBTQIA+ in the Northeast). Ever since then, have been committed to assisting LINE Wangaratta in the hope that LGBTQIA+ individuals can be supported and celebrated here.
