drummond street services is still supporting families during this very challenging time. We provide a range of services and programs to support children, young people, families, relationships and communities.
We know that COVID-19 has put extra pressure on many families. This might be isolation from family, friends and community, financial stress, loss of employment, strains on relationships, having to balance caring for children, working from home and home learning, fear and anxiety about your own and your loved ones’ health, and separation from usual supports and activities that help to keep us happy and healthy.
TGV has established a fund to assist trans and gender diverse people experiencing financial hardship to cover the costs of updating their name and sex record on their Victorian Birth Certificate.
TGV will not be asking for you to prove your financial position. To ensure we can help the greatest number of people in need, we ask you to only request assistance if you think you are currently experiencing financial hardship.
To that end, this form is an attempt to provide assistance to these individuals and record the potential impact of the fund. This includes the overall barriers and difficulties our community may face at the time they are affirming their gender identity. The information you can provide may help us to inspire further donations, keeping the fund topped up to help more people in the future.
We are now able to offer both Reimbursement (repayment after an application), and upfront payment assistance.
The ID Change Support Fund has been made possible thanks to the generous support of our community partners.
Victorian Birth Certificate reform, passed in Parliament last August, comes into effect today on Friday the 1st of May and we couldn’t be more excited!
This marks an important step forward in ensuring greater equity for trans and gender diverse Victorians. The new reform means trans and gender diverse people in Victoria can now access identity documents that are accurate and up to date more easily.
Previous requirements to disclose medical information such as prior surgeries and medical histories were often invasive, and inconsistent with other jurisdictions.
We’re thrilled to see this reform bringing Victoria in line with current standards in other parts of Australia and other regions, and improving the lives of trans and gender diverse people in our state.
